Say Hello to Our New Prince!

Congratulations to citizens of the UK and around the world! It's official! The third in line to the throne, Prince George Alexander Louis was born on Monday 22nd July 2013, at 4:24pm, at St Mary's Hospital in London. The name George was the bookmakers' favourite for the name of the Royal Baby, with the names Alexander and Louis also one of the popular options. There have been six King George's to date, with the most recent being the Queen's father.
Some opinions suggest the name Alexander is in tribute to the Queen... whose middle name is Alexandra. Other theories claim it is in honour of Alexander the Great, the ruler in the 4th century.
The name Louis is quite sentimental to the royal family, as it is Prince William's fourth name and by having one of the baby's names as Louis, it is thought to be a tribute to Lord Louis Mountbatten, the Duke of Edinburgh's uncle! Prince George can look forward to a fruitful and exciting upbringing, with Prince Harry promising to show George "how to have a good time". The family in the Palace however will be expected to celebrate! We can expect balloons and lots of confetti to be around the palace in the coming week or two!
