Welcome to the World Prince George!

Say Hello to Our New Prince!

Congratulations to citizens of the UK and around the world! It's official! The third in line to the throne, Prince George Alexander Louis was born on Monday 22nd July 2013, at 4:24pm, at St Mary's Hospital in London. The name George was the bookmakers' favourite for the name of the Royal Baby, with the names Alexander and Louis also one of the popular options. There have been six King George's to date, with the most recent being the Queen's father.
Some opinions suggest the name Alexander is in tribute to the Queen... whose middle name is Alexandra. Other theories claim it is in honour of Alexander the Great, the ruler in the 4th century.
The name Louis is quite sentimental to the royal family, as it is Prince William's fourth name and by having one of the baby's names as Louis, it is thought to be a tribute to Lord Louis Mountbatten, the Duke of Edinburgh's uncle! Prince George can look forward to a fruitful and exciting upbringing, with Prince Harry promising to show George "how to have a good time". The family in the Palace however will be expected to celebrate! We can expect balloons and lots of confetti to be around the palace in the coming week or two!

Will and Kate's Royal Baby!

How to celebrate for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's royal baby

Prince William and Kate Middleton are having a royal baby, and he or she is due by July 13th, possibly earlier! This calls for celebrations, where every family in the UK can have a party for the birth of new royalty. Everyone can be a part of the fantastic occasion by dressing up and decorating their homes. Families can put on different types of costumes to feel patriotic and specific to the occasion. For instance, people can equip themselves with crowns, tiaras and jewellery to complete the full king or queen image and feel royal themselves! Place flags and banners of the United Kingdom around your home to be patriotic and celebrate while you prepare for the arrival of the new born royal baby! Perhaps prepare with christening products for baby boys or girls in light of the special occasion of birth! Congratulations to the whole country on the birth of our new prince or princess!

Summer Parties and Music Festivals

How to party this summer!

Summer is finally here! Let all the partying and music begin!

Summer parties have kicked off with dancing and music, fancy dresses and exciting themes, with people around the world enjoying the hot weather and fun nights. Summer parties can have different themes, including the 70's Hippie theme, Hawaiian theme and the Mexican theme. Most parties use accessories such as banners, balloons, and whistles. Many summer parties also feature different games, even pranks and tricks. Summer parties typically involve multi coloured lighting, candles and party sparklers,

It's that time of the year where the music festivals are going on weekly during summer, with all the big names in music coming together to rock the UK. The T In The Park music festival in Glasgow, Scotland is running from the 12-14th July, and with headliners Rihanna, The Killers, and Mumford & Sons, it is expected to be a memorable event. With big names such as Kasabian and Snow Patrol performing in 2012, the T In The Park had a record breaking 85,000 ravers last year. More are expected this summer, with an expansive and interesting line up to take the show on. The Wireless festival is back from the 12-14th July, more exciting than ever. Headliners feature Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, and Emili Sandé to take the stage. Last year's Wireless audience filled the area with hundreds of light sticks as Drake and Rihanna took the stage. One can expect a rave at the Lovebox festival this year, from 19th-21st July in London, as big names such as Plan B, Goldfrapp and Azealia Banks will perform. Summer is well underway and it looks to be a fun one!

Celebrations for American Independence Day on 4th July!

Independence Day Celebrations! - 4th of July

Independence Day is back! It's that time of year where we can say happy birthday to the USA for the 237th time! What is Independence Day? What does it mean to American people? Well, Independence Day is a celebratory occasion to commemorate the glorious event of the formation of the Declaration of Independence, on July 4th 1776. This day marks the freedom and the independence of the USA from the Kingdom of Great Britain. The concept of American independence was originally agreed by the American Congress on July 2nd 1776, before signing on to the Declaration of Independence two days later. However, the Declaration was principally brought forward by Thomas Jefferson and his Committee of Five. The date itself symbolises the hard-earned freedom of the American people, and so is celebrated by hundreds of millions of people around the world. Independence day was made a paid national holiday in the USA since 1938, and is a time for fireworks, parties, speeches and ceremonies, with people dressing in relevant, fun and patriotic costumes, featuring face paints and American top hats!

Some communities celebrate the occasion with the common waving of the American flag, dancing, music, and carnivals featuring hotdog eating competitions and one legged races!
If July 4th falls on a weekend, they are observed on other days. For example, when July 4th falls on a Saturday, it tends to be celebrated on Friday 3rd - similarly it is celebrated on Monday 5th when falling on a Sunday. This year, Independence day falls on a Thursday. Coincidentally, two of the Founding Fathers who proposed the Declaration, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, died precisely 50 years after the approval of the Declaration, on July 4th 1826!
