Pudsey Bear Children in Need 2011 TV Charity Evening

CHILDREN IN NEED - FRIDAY 18TH NOVEMBER 2011

PUDSEY BEAR

It is soon going to be one of the most watched and worthwhile Charity events on British television. Soon to come is Children in Need.
The first edition of the appeal in its modern format was televised in November 1980, with it being hosted by Terry Wogan, newsreader Sue Lawley and thats life presenter and future founder of the charity Esther Rantzen. Terry Wogan has been a long time standing presenter of this worthy cause show and some of the others taking on the presenting in the 1990's, have been Andi Peters, Natasha Kaplinsky, Tess Daly and Fearne Cotton, are just a few of them.

There has been one figure that has undoubtly become an icon through the show and that is the yellow teddy bear with the white and red-polka-dot bandage over his right eye, surely one of the most famous teddy bears in the UK, which was created by designer Joanna Ball. The pudsey bear's name deriving from Ball's hometown Pudsey in Yorkshire (now part of Leeds).

Originally Pudsey was only intended to appear on the one show, but the people of Britain, adults and children alike fell in love with him, and he is now incorporated into the official log and his merchandise alone has raised hundreds of thousands for the charity.

Last year on the show in 2010, Pudsey was accompanied by a brown bear wearing a ribbon on her head, and she was called Blush, do we think that this is maybe Pudsey's new girlfriend?
Lets see what Pudsey will surprise us with this year, maybe he will be handing out a teddy party box of goodies to all the kids in the audience.

Notting Hill Carnival Festival Events

NOTTING HILL CARNIVAL
Held every August Bank Holiday since 1966, the Notting Hill Carnival is one of the largest festival celebration's of its kind in Europe. Every year the streets of West London come alive with the sounds and smells of the Notting Hill Carnival.
It originally started as a local festival set up by the West Indian community of the Notting Hill area. It is now a full blown carnival, attracting people from all over the Globe. With the most astonishing floats, music from the traditional steal bands, the glorious smells from the food stalls, and the exquisite costumes, the Notting Hill Carnival is one of London's most exciting annual events.
The Notting hill Carnival used to start on the Saturday, with the Steel Drum Band competition. On Sunday it is children's day, when the costume prizes are awarded. On the Bank Holiday the main parade takes place and it generally begins on Great Western Road, then winds its way along Chepstowe Road, on to Westbourne Grove and then Ladbroke Grove. In the evening the floats leave the procession, and many people carry on partying at the many Notting Hill after parties.
Many of the costumes take weeks if not even months to make, and if you are attending either the Notting Hill carnival or your local festival during this August bank holiday weekend, you may need a large yellow pom pom or a long 2m black feather boa, to help you celebrate this festive occasion.
Also just remember that for safety reasons the 2011 Notting Hill carnival will start at 9am and end at 7am this year, due to the recent riots around London and the rest of the UK.

Festival of Hungry Ghosts - China

THE FESTIVAL OF HUNGRY GHOSTS - CHINA

TO BE HELD 14 August 2011

On the Chinese or Lunar 7th Month, the Hungry Ghost Festival is one where literally all hell breaks loose, as the gates of hell open out to let out the 'Hungry Ghosts' to Earth. Find out what needs to be done to appease them. Just as we have Halloween, the Chinese have their own version of a Ghost Festival. The Ghost Festival is celebrated mostly in South China, Hong Kong Twain, and especially in Singapore and Malaysia.
The Hungry Ghost Festival is one that is taken very seriously by the Chinese and is a mix of Taoist/Folklore occasion. Filial Chinese Families celebrate this festival to pay tribute and remember there dead family members. Also, they pray to unknown Ghosts so that their wandering souls do not bring bad luck and misfortune to them. Another belief is that the wandering dead return to visit their living families during the 7th Month. So they prepare a sumptuous feast for the 'ghosts' to satisfy them and bring good luck and fortune to them. During the 7th Month celebrations, the Chinese pray to the deceased, burn Joss Sticks, Paper Money and offer Food. In Singapore and Malaysia, it is a common sight to see entertaining, 'wayang' or Chinese Opera and concerts on outdoor stages.
These events are always held at night, and are a very noisy and loud occasion, this is because they believe that the loud entertainment would attract and appease the Ghosts. There is a lot of superstition surrounding this festival: It is bad luck to go swimming, they believe that an evil ghost may drown you, Also they advise Children not to wander about late at night and to return home early in case anything may harm them.
The Chinese do a lot of offerings to the deceased. These offerings are such burning paper money, known as HELL MONEY , and even paper televisions or radios. A very important date is the 15 day of the Lunar 7th month , the Chinese cook lots of dishes to offer to the deceased. They do this to appease the dead and to bring good luck to their family, they believe that the Ghost will return to where they come from, after a month of merrymaking. At Party Tracker, we have a large selection of Girls fancy dress Chinese costume , China Paper Flags, and China Themed products for you to celebrate the festival of hungry ghosts in the UK.

National Play Day

NATIONAL PLAY DAY - 3rd AUGUST 2011

It was a glorious hot summer day, which is, as most people know is usually unheard of in the UK. So to make the most of it, some of the Party Tracker employees decided to take their children for a picnic, to celebrate the National Play Day 2011 in the UK.
This is aimed at Children, Young people and Families across hundreds of local communities around the UK to play and have fun. Our local National Play Day was held at the Beautiful Parks and Lakes at Stanborough Park. These are set on approx 126 acres of parklands, which have held the prestigious Green Flag Award for the last 6 years. There's a wide variety of bird life, such as Ducks, Swans and Geese, as well as lakes full of fish. So armed with large picnic hamper, full of food, football party cups football party plates and football party napkins, all things to make an easy and relaxing day, off we set to enjoy a fun day. When we arrived there we found a glorious spot, under the trees, overlooking the lakes, but close to the activities. The children went exploring whilst some of us laid out the rug, picnic food and accessories. The children quickly established what they wanted to do, there was a wide selection of activities to pond dipping, Zorbing, wall climbing, football and various other things to do. Whilst they were out and about, we sat back and watched the sailing, wind surfing, and watersports on the lake. Zorbing proved to be a great hit with the children. Zorbing is the latest adventure activity from New Zealand, which is where you are put into a large plastic sphere, which is inflated, and you have to try and walk in it on water, a very hard thing to do. but great fun and exercise. This can also be done rolling down hills. It was a very active and busy day, but lots of smiles and laughter was in abundance from children and adults alike, and at the end of the day we all headed home very exhausted but extremely happy. Did anyone else around the UK, have a Play Day, how was it? And how did you end up celebrating it.

Harry Potter Costumes

The new anticipated and waited for latest release of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Part 2 has finally now arrived at our cinemas. To celebrate this, the Team at Party Tracker, decided to take the family on a outing to see this. The children and adults alike had absolutely lots of fun, trying on, and deciding on what costumes to wear. The Harry Potter Robe was the favourite for the boys, where as the girls was the Harry Potter Gryffindor outfit. The Adults had a brilliant time experimenting with the make up, wigs and hats, and set off ready for lots of popcorn and drink, for an evening of spellbinding fun.

The seven fantasy novels by J K Rowling, are based on Wizard, Harry Potter, and his best friends Ron Weasley and Hermoine Granger, who are students of Witchcraft and Wizardry at Hogwarts School.
These have widely followed by the films, with the last being the Deathly Hallows which were in two parts. This was enjoyed by the Children and Team alike, but I won't spoil the ending, just in case you have not read the books, or seen the movie, but we at Party Trackers would highly recommend that you see it! It is FAB.
